{"id":2281,"date":"2011-07-01T11:26:22","date_gmt":"2011-07-01T11:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tomgilliam.wordpress.com\/?p=2281"},"modified":"2023-09-01T00:27:31","modified_gmt":"2023-09-01T00:27:31","slug":"a-deadly-sacrifice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tomgilliam.com\/?p=2281","title":{"rendered":"A Deadly Sacrifice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Let us muse today from Zephaniah 1:7-13 where the prophet uses\u00a0<strong><em>three pictures\u00a0from Jewish history to describe the day of the Lord.<\/em><\/strong> In our text he speaks of <strong><em>a deadly sacrifice<\/em><\/strong>. In verses 7-8 we are told it is the Lord&#8217;s sacrifice and the Babylonians had been invited. The sacrifice would consist of the Jewish people and all that they had. The Babylonians will come in through the fish\u00a0gate according to verse\u00a010 which was the market and commercial part of the city. They would ransack and take all inside. The day of the Lord would be a similar\u00a0 situation to this. All of this could have been avoided if the heart attitude of the people in verse 12 was not the\u00a0Lord will do no\u00a0good or evil against us.
