I want to break the book down into two parts. The first will be called <strong><em>the\u00a0Lord&#8217;s announcement\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>and the second the Lord&#8217;s arrival. Malachi begins his book\u00a0by announcing that the\u00a0Lord had given him a word for Israel. This word that Malachi must deliver was a great burden upon his heart. Malachi\u00a0looked at the world through the\u00a0eyes of God. John Phillips said Malachi\u00a0saw the world as a materialistic, secularist, smug, wrapped in the grave-clothes\u00a0of dead religion, divorce prone, calloused about the poor, and with\u00a0an airy\u00a0dismissal of God&#8217;s presence type people.
