The burning of incense itself was a symbol of prayer. When the priest went into the holy place to offer the incense he would ring a bell to indicate to those without that they could begin to pray. I praise His name the bell is always ringing to come into His presence with boldness and find help in the time of need. The angel who verse 19 tells us was Gabriel appeared at the right side of the altar which was the side of flavor. The first contact of God to man in 400 years was the message of fear not. He tells Zacharias his prayer is heard. It was a prayer they prayed years ago and have probably sense stopped praying but now there is an answer.
