The riddle would say that the defilement of man is not that which is on the outside going in \u00a0but that which is on the inside coming out. The Pharisees who place so much emphasis on the\u00a0laws of tradition, man&#8217;s appearance, and morals would be enraged . Jesus said the problem was not outward but inward depravity.\u00a0Oh \u00a0I wish we would direct more of our preaching to the inward man and less to the outward man.
