He begins these remarks with the words <em>&#8216;I know&#8217;<\/em>. The phrase means to be fully aware because one is looking. Let this be a warning to the church we attend that our Lord is looking. What does He see in our churches? I notice He sees in this church a <em>&#8216;laboring work&#8217;<\/em> for His name sake. The word &#8216;labor&#8217; means a work that causes great pain and reduces the strength. He also commends them for their &#8216;<em>patience<\/em>&#8216;. The word means one who stays under with cheerful endurance. The word also deals with ones ability to be still and wait. This is certainly a quality needed at the church house today. They also had a <em>&#8216;hatred for evil&#8217;<\/em> and religious liars. May the Lord give us a holy discernment for those who seek to deceive God&#8217;s people. He also commended them for <em>&#8216;not fainting&#8217;<\/em>. The word means to become weary in well doing. Our Lord is looking at the churches we attend.
